Volunteering at Frisbie Memorial Hospital
Becoming a volunteer can be a very rewarding experience that is beneficial to both volunteers and to those they serve. Volunteers add to the quality of health care by assisting patients, their families, Frisbie staff, as well as the community at large. All Frisbie volunteers become members of our Auxiliary program. (See Auxiliary information below)
Volunteer Opportunities We have a variety of opportunities throughout the hospital and our branch offices, whether you have a lot of time to share or just a little. For more information on our volunteer program, please view our brochure.
To Apply Frisbie's need for volunteers grows steadily and we would like the opportunity to meet with you. If you have a desire to donate your time and talents to our hospital, perhaps learn a new skill or share your expertise, please give us a call. To learn more about our program, or to arrange an interview, please call Antoinette Hills at (603) 332-3100 x 8329.
Auxiliary
The Frisbie Memorial Hospital Auxiliary is an active organization of dedicated men and women volunteering their time together for fundraising initiatives to benefit patient care programs as well as to fund their annual health care student scholarship program. The Auxiliary's membership includes many dedicated individuals from the communities of Rochester, Farmington, Somersworth, Milton, Barrington, Strafford, New Durham, and Berwick and Lebanon, Maine. Weekly hospital volunteers gain automatic membership to the Auxiliary. Others will pay an annual membership fee of $10. Lifetime membership fee is $50. For more information about becoming a member of the Frisbie Auxiliary, please call Betty Jane Meulenbroek at (603) 875-2215.
The Auxiliary's History The Auxiliary began in 1923 as the Hospital Aid which made and supplied all of the hospital's linens. After becoming incorporated in 1952, fundraising became its primary mission and in 1954 the Hospital Aid purchased its first piece of equipment for Frisbie. In 1981 the Hospital Aid was renamed the Frisbie Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. Major contributions for equipment purchases and expansion of services to patients have been made over the years in excess of a million dollars.
Auxiliary president, Betty Jane Meulenbroek, has been a member of Frisbie Memorial Hospital's Auxiliary since 1998. For 2010, Betty Jane and members of the Auxiliary will work on their various fundraising efforts to support patient care programs and student scholarships. These activities include this year's first Summerfest event, scheduled for Saturday, June 26. This fun-filled event will feature food, and the sales of crafts and new and used quality items. In addition, they will sponsor their annual Golf Tournament in August and the Lights of Love event in December. For more information on these programs, please contact Betty Jane at (603) 875-2215.
