Functional Dry Needling now offered at Frisbie Memorial Hospital

Rehabilitation Services at Frisbie Memorial Hospital is now offering Functional Dry Needling therapy. Functional Dry Needling is a manual therapy technique used to relieve muscle tightness and spasm, which results from the compression and irritation of nerves exiting the spine.

When muscles tighten, they becomre sore with "knots," known as trigger points. Functional Dry Needling is the process by which small, thin needles are inserted into the muscle to stimulate the trigger points. Because the needles are so thin, a person often is not aware when they are inserted, but will quickly feel the relief of the muscle relaxing, and will notice immediate increased flexibility and comfort.

Commonly treated conditions include:

  • Muscle spasms or trigger points
  • Fibromyositis
  • Tendonitis
  • Osteoarthritis
  • Myofascial pain syndrome
  • Chronic pain
  • Muscle overuse symptoms
If you believe that you could benefit from this treatment, talk to your provider. A physician referral is required prior to scheduling an appointment. For more information about Functional Dry Needling, contact Rehabilitation Services at (603) 330-8952.
