Based on the results from a recent on-site inspection, Frisbie Memorial Hospital's Laboratory has received
accreditation from the College of American Pathologists (CAP).
The U.S. federal government recognizes the CAP Laboratory Accreditation Program as being equal-to or more-stringent-than the government's own inspection program.
During the CAP accreditation process, which is designed to ensure the highest standard of care for all laboratory patients, inspectors examine the laboratory's records and quality control of procedures for the preceding two years. CAP inspectors also examine laboratory staff qualifications, equipment, facilities, safety program and record, and overall management.
Each year, Frisbie Memorial's laboratory phlebotomists collect over 100,000 specimens, while the laboratory processes and performs more than 1,000,000 tests. These procedures are essential to diagnosing and treating patients. The laboratory includes a team of 44 medical technologists, phlebotomists and pathologists who work together to provide quality laboratory services to the patient community. They continually strive to meet their goals of providing the highest standard of care to patients. This process begins with the drawing of patients' blood through performing the testing and then reporting the results to the physicians. Their process is efficient, streamlined and quality-driven Above all, everyone works together to achieve these goals.
