Each year, Frisbie Memorial Hospital, along with the 23 other nonprofit hospitals in New Hampshire, takes responsibility for complying with community benefits legislation. That legislation went into effect in 2000 and requires hospitals to provide a comprehensive report to the New Hampshire State Attorney General's Office. Each year, we complete a Community Benefits Report that specifically reports how we assisted with the special needs of our most vulnerable, at-risk population groups, as described in our Community Needs Assessment.
Groups in which the hospital specifically concentrates on assisting include the elderly, disabled, underinsured/uninsured, and homeless populations. State law requires that a Community Needs Assessment be conducted every five years. Our 2003 Community Needs Assessment is available online and we encourage you to read it and let us know if you have any comments or suggestions. Most recently, we completed our activities for 2005 and have put together a plan for 2006. We encourage area residents and community members to review this plan and address comments to a.sandler@fmhospital.com.

Our Health Improvement Focus:
Based on the qualitative and quantitative data and community input we received in 2003, our efforts have been focused in four major areas including
- Access to care
- Awareness of services
- Dental health
- Alcohol/drugs/tobacco
Our assessment also pointed out that certain "vulnerable" populations should be targeted through our efforts. These populations include the elderly, disabled, homeless, underinsured/uninsured and children. We plan to undergo another Community Needs Assessment in 2008.
