Community Outreach Programs

As a community hospital, Frisbie Memorial Hospital is actively involved in a wide range of efforts to help improve the health of individuals living in the Greater Rochester area. All volunteer-led support groups held at Frisbie Memorial Hospital are also offered at no charge to participants.

We are proud to offer several "Access-to-Care" initiatives that provide millions of dollars in free care to local residents each year. Under the various programs, we offer financial counseling, a community ambulance service, and free space for nonprofit groups to meet. In a joint effort with participating pharmaceutical companies, our Medication Assistance Program has provided more than $4.5 million in free prescription drugs to uninsured individuals since its inception in 1999.

Our employees participate in many worthwhile community outreach activities, including the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life event and the Somersworth Children's Festival.

School-Based Dental Education Program

We launched our School-Based Dental Education Program in 1999 for the purpose of improving the dental health of children in the towns of Rochester, Somersworth, Barrington, Farmington, Milton, and Lebanon, Maine. Because good dental habits begin at an early age, our dental hygienists teach children in grades 1 to 3 how to brush and floss properly, focusing on prevention. Children who do not have a dentist are eligible for dental screenings, cleanings and sealants.

Through a joint venture with the Avis Goodwin Community Health Center, children who do not have a dentist but who need further restorative care may be eligible for free or reduced-cost care. We support the efforts of this organization's dental program through annual grants given through our Frisbie Foundation.

Since 1999, more than 12,600 screenings have been provided to students who have participated in this free program. To learn more, please call our School-Based Dental Health Program at (603) 332-3100 x 4414.
