Chronic Disease Self-Management Program
Making better choices for better health: Learning to self-manage for improved health
Do you live with a chronic health problem? Do you care for someone who does?
Frisbie Memorial Hospital is now offering the Stanford School of Medicine's Chronic Disease Self-Management Program to anyone living with or caring for someone with a chronic health condition, such as diabetes, asthma, back pain, or any other persistent health problem. The Program presents ways to self-manage chronic health conditions, topics include:
- Techniques to deal with problems like frustration, fatigue, pain and isolation
- Appropriate exercise for maintaining and improving strength, flexibility and endurance
- Appropriate use of medications
- Communicating effectively with family, friends and health professionals
- Nutrition
- How to evaluate new treatments
A new six-week session begins on January 31, 2012 from 9:30 am to noon in the Classroom located across the Gift Shop at Frisbie Memorial Hospital.
