Emergency Services

Frisbie Memorial Hospital is making important efforts to change long-standing community perceptions about emergency departments. Finding ways to expedite the care of up to 80 patients a day while improving patient satisfaction is no easy task, but it's a promise to which Frisbie Memorial Hospital is committed.

Whether your visit is for a minor injury or for a life-threatening medical problem, we make every effort to ensure that you are as comfortable and informed as possible.

With the rapid growth of the communities we serve, it is more important than ever to continue to show a strong commitment to improving our emergency services. For those conditions that are not emergent, the Barrington Urgent Care is open during the week from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. for walk-in, urgent care concerns.

Frisbie Memorial Hospital's Emergency Department is one of the largest and busiest facilities in the Seacoast Region, treating more than 30,000 patients each year. The department has a 17-bed exam and treatment area, including:

  • 11 general treatment areas
  • 2 cardiac treatment areas
  • 2 trauma treatment areas
  • An OB/GYN treatment area
  • An orthopedic room
  • A hazardous material exposure shower
  • Expanded and more comfortable waiting areas

When you or a family member needs emergency medical treatment, you can feel confident that when you visit Frisbie Memorial Hospital's Emergency Department. You'll receive high-quality medical care as quickly as possible. You'll be seen by skilled and compassionate nurses, board-certified emergency physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners and paramedics 24 hours-a-day.

If it's an especially busy time on Saturday, Sunday or Monday, our Emergency Department offers a "fast-track" area that treats patients with minor injuries.

Whether you need stitches, an emergency ultrasound, CT scan or MRI, our Emergency Department can provide the care you need, always with a personal touch.
