Surgical Services

Our experienced surgical team of physicians, nurses, technicians, and clinical specialists offer a wide variety of services, including same-day surgery. Patients undergoing surgical procedures benefit from access to the latest technologies and techniques, including laparoscopic and minimally invasive surgeries.

Surgical services include:

Our patients choose Frisbie not only for our surgical expertise, but for the caring and comfortable atmosphere of the self-contained Surgical Services unit, which provides privacy and easy access for both patients and their families.

Pre-Op Screening

To help take the stress out of surgery, we have streamlined the process of pre-operative testing and surgical preparation. Through our easy, all-inclusive pre-op program, all the paperwork and pre-examination requirements are taken care of during one session scheduled prior to your surgery.

Same Day Surgery Program

Due to technical advances and new, minimally invasive procedures in the operating room, 75% of our patients have same day surgery. Here, they can enjoy a private room and are able to return home shortly after surgery.

Laser Surgery

Surgical Associates of Rochester offers laser surgery for hair removal, "spider vein" removal and rejuvenation procedures. Specific removal procedures include:
- Unwanted hair (entire body)
- Leg and facial veins ("spider veins")
- Age and sun spots (pigmented lesions)
- Finer lines and wrinkles around the eys and mouth

Flexible hours by appointment. Call the office for specific procedures at 332-0886. To learn more about our laser procedures, click here.

Orthopedic Surgery

Orthopedics is the specialty that treats injuries and diseases of the musculoskeletal system. Orthopedists undergo extensive training: four to seven years of orthopedic residency in addition to eight years of college and medical school. This extensive training provides the necessary expertise to properly treat, with non-operative and operative methods, various conditions affecting the bones, joints, and muscles. Some of the specialties include:

Hand Surgery
Foot & Ankle Surgery
Joint Replacement
Spine Surgery
Sports Medicine
Shoulder & Elbow Surgery

Pediatric Services

Our staff understands the fears and concern that young patients and their families may have about surgery. To better prepare children (toddlers through adolescent) our staff guides children and their families through the process prior to surgery. Frisbie offers monthly "Pedi-parties" where children can watch an educational video about the entire surgical experience to help alleviate their fears of surgery. Families are able to join their children immediately after they return from the operating room.

After Surgery Services

Immediately after surgery, patients may be brought to the Recovery Room or Day Surgery Room, depending on the stage of recovery. Specialized Post Anestesia Care Unit nurses and Certified Nursing Assistants may monitor patients when they wake up from anesthesia to ensure they are as comfortable as possible. Once a physician determines that patients are ready for discharge from PACU, they will return to the Same Day Surgery unit for further recovery. During this time, the nurse will review home care instructions and answer any questions the patient and caregiver may have. The length of time patients stay after surgery depends on the procedure, the anesthesia used, and the patient's response to both.

Anesthesia

Frisbie's anesthesia team, comprised of four anesthesiologists and four nurse anesthetists, provide general, spinal, epidural, nerve blocks, and conscious sedation during endoscopy. According to members of the North American Partners in Anesthesia, our Anesthesia Department is superior in its ability to manage pain throughout the surgical experience. In some cases, you may request a specific provider.
