Frisbie Employee Awarded the R. Peter Wittmann Memorial Scholarship (7/19/2010)
On July 19, 2010, Tiffany Wojtysiak was presented with the R. Peter Wittmann, M.D. Memorial Scholarship by the hospital’s Auxiliary. Ms. Wojtysiak has worked for Frisbie Memorial Hospital since August of 2008. She works as a Registration Coordinator in the Registration Department and an Initial Triage Technician in the Emergency Department. Chris Devine, Director of Patient Registration, says that Tiffany “works very well with others and holds her own in sometimes difficult situations”. Ms. Devine especially commented on Tiffany’s maturity and professionalism in working with anxious patients and families. A previous supervisor shared that Tiffany was always good at solving problems. She did “…a lot of thinking outside of the box and she always succeeded in fixing the problem.” We think that is a great attribute for someone planning to be a nurse!
Ms. Wojtysiak intends to use the Scholarship to enable her to complete her Associates Degree in Nursing at Great Bay Community College and reach her dream of becoming a Registered Nurse.
The scholarship award is for $1,500, and named in memory of Pathologist, R. Peter Wittmann, M.D., given annually by the Auxiliary to a Frisbie Memorial Hospital employee who continues their education in the health care or computer science field. This is the 14th anniversary of this scholarship award. Recipients are chosen based on their service to the community and financial need.
Scholarship presenter and Frisbie Auxilian, Betsy Wittmann, married to the late Dr. Wittmann, described the former Chief of Pathology and Chief of Staff as a wise and witty doctor. “The scholarship is a fitting tribute to remember a man who was well-loved and respected by all who knew him and who was always there for anyone who needed him,” Mrs. Wittmann said. “As his epitaph on the stone in front of Frisbie’s Community Education & Conference Center says, ‘Laugh and be well.’ That was Peter.”
