Giving birth at Frisbie Memorial Hospital
Our private and spacious birthing rooms are specially designed to provide new moms and their families with a warm and comfortable environment, while offering all of the amenities that will make the delivery and stay at Frisbie Memorial a memorable experience. Highlights of our birthing rooms include:
- Private hydrotherapy tubs for gentle massage
- Rocking chair
- Sofa bed
- TV/CD/DVD player
- Private bathroom with shower
For the comfort of parents and family, we offer new postpartum rooms that include a double bed with a trundle bed and a recliner for overnight stays. For family members in need of a snack or beverage, the unit has two Nourishment Centers stocked with a variety of snacks and beverages 24 hours a day.
The Center makes available a full range of comfort techniques and options. Your doctors and nurses will discuss these options with you to help you choose the ones that would be most appropriate for your unique labor and delivery:
- Laboring in water
- Birthing ball
- Heat therapy
- Medications for safe labor
- Epidural anesthesia
A doula is someone experienced with the birthing process and has had special training to assist patients. The Center provides patients with contact phone numbers for doulas for labor and delivery and postpartum care.
For immediate family members, visiting hours are 24/7. General visiting hours are from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily.

Michelle Ciarlo, MD
|Dr. Ciarlo earned her medical degree from Ross University School of Medicine, Portsmouth, Dominica, West Indies and completed her residency at Saint Peter's University Hospital in New Brunswick, New Jersey where she was Chief Administrative Resident from 2013 to 2014, a member of the Graduate Medical Education Committee and a member of the Resident Research Committee.|
Dr. Ciarlo is a member of the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG).
Heidi MacVittie, MD
|Dr. MacVittie received her medical degree from the University of Utah School of Medicine. She is board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology.|
John Mirabello, MD
|Dr. Mirabello received his medical degree from the Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences. He is board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology.
Deborah Mueller, MD
|Dr. Mueller received her medical degree from the University of Connecticut School of Medicine in Farmington, Connecticut. She is board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology.|
Mona Nesrallah, MD
|Dr. Nesrallah received her medical degree from the American University of the Caribbean, and completed her residency at Albany Medical Center in Albany, New York. Dr. Nesrallah is board eligible in Obstetrics and Gynecology||
