Radiology/Diagnostic Imaging
It's about People.Staffed by board-certified radiologists and caring technologists, all of whom maintain professional registry in their disciplines, Frisbie Memorial provides a high level of care that remains sensitive to your needs. We offer outpatient imaging services to accommodate your schedule, including weekday evening ultrasound, CT and MRI. Saturday and Sunday CT and MRI appointments are also available. Call (603) 335-8197 to schedule your appointment. X-rays are available anytime day or evening on a walk-in basis with an order from your provider.
Its about Technology.Nowhere does Frisbie Memorial Hospital's commitment to technology show more than in our Radiology/Imaging Department. Our Radiology Department provides a full range of diagnostic and treatment services, with some of the most up-to-date technology available. Our new GE Optima CT660 128-slice scanner was the first to be installed in all North America. It features GE's ASiR radiation dose reduction system, allowing us to provide the safest, lowest radiation dose CT scans available.
Our new fixed Toshiba Vantage Titan MRI provides for a more comfortable experience as it has a larger open bore (opening) design and is nearly 50 percent quieter than other models. What's more, the Vantage Titan MRI has ability to perform more scans in a feet-first position.
All of our imaging is digital. Your exams are immediately available electronically on our secure network to Hospital providers involved in your care, speeding diagnosis and treatment. Copies of your exams are available to you on CD or DVD. See "How to Obtain Images" below.
It's about Trust. The Radiology team at Frisbie Memorial Hospital cares about your safety, privacy and comfort. All exams are performed in a friendly home town environment by registered technologists operating under radiologist supervision. Our reception desk is conveniently adjacent to the new outupatient lobby and all imaging modalities located nearby on the same level. Radiologists read exams every day so your results are usually available to your provider within 24 hours. Our MRI and Ultrasound services are accredited by the American College of Radiology, and CT service accreditation is pending. We welcome your questions and feedback. Please contact us at our main number (603) 335-8401 or call the Director of Imaging Services at (603) 335-8434.
Imaging and Lower Dose Radiation
While the benefits of today's high tech imaging are well known, we recognize that increased use carries some risk from increased radiation exposure. In our CT service, we work closely with General Electric to decrease radiation used by our CT scanners. Frisbie Memorial Hospial is the first in the nation to install the GE Optima CT660 scanner which uses advanced technology so that we have a 40% radiation dose reduction. Our patients will now receive the lowest radiation dose available in the Seacoast region.
MRI scans often require use of gadolinium-based contrast agents, especially for vascular studies called MR Angiograms (MRAs). While generally safe, these agents pose some risk, especially for patients with renal impairment. Our new Toshiba Vantage Titan MRI scanner includes proprietary contrasts-free MRA techniques. Fewer patients will now need gadolinium contrast, and patients who could not have MRA studies because of renal impairment will now be able to have them done safely without contrast.
