Same Day Surgery Program
Due to technical advances and new, minimally invasive procedures in the operating room, 75% of our patients have same day surgery. Here, they can enjoy a private room and are able to return home shortly after surgery.
Pediatric Services: Pedi-Parties
Our staff understands the fears and concern that young patients and their families may have about surgery. To better prepare children (toddlers through adolescent) our staff guides children and their families through the process prior to surgery. "Pedi-parties" are offered twice a month and is an opportunity for children to tour the operating room and watch an educational video about the entire surgical experience to help alleviate their fears of surgery. Families are able to join their children immediately after they return from the operating room.
After Surgery Services
Immediately after surgery, patients may be brought to the Recovery Room or Day Surgery Room, depending on the stage of recovery. Specialized Post Anesthesia Care Unit nurses monitor patients when they wake up from anesthesia to ensure they are as comfortable as possible. Once a physician determines that patients are ready for discharge from PACU, they will return to the Same Day Surgery unit for further recovery. During this time, the nurse will review home care instructions and answer any questions the patient and caregiver may have. The length of time patients stay after surgery depends on the procedure, the anesthesia used, and the patient's response to both.
