A cancer diagnosis can be an overwhelming and frightening experience - the uncertainty of what lies ahead, or the loss of control over everday life. With Frisbie Memorial Hospital's expanded clinical affiliation with Lahey Health, patients have the added comfort of knowing that comprehensive cancer and hematology care is now available, close to home.

The Center for Cancer Care at Frisbie Memorial is comprised of a multidisciplinary team of specialists working together to provide innovative care to patients. Now, Frisbie's Oncologists and Hematologists have access to Lahey Health's advanced clinical training, and the opportunity to participate on Lahey Health Tumor Boards, which  affords direct access to specialists during patient case reviews. With the recommendation of the oncologists, patients will also have access to Lahey's clinical trials, which evaluate new and innovative cancer treatments.

Oral Chemotherapy Program
Since 2004, Frisbie's Center for Cancer Care has been recognized nationally for its comprehensive Oral Chemotherapy Program. Designed with patient safety in mind, the program is managed by oncology nurses specially trained to provide oversight and assist patients during their oral chemotherapy regimen, including:

  • Monitoring patients to ensure medication is safely administered at patient's home
  • Symptom management
  • Ensure patients have access to medication, minimizing barriers such as insurance coverage, medication availability or financial issues
  • Support
  • Education


The Center for Cancer Care offers patients comprehensive cancer and hematology care in a comfortable setting including multiple patient care services:

  • Larger treatment areas
  • Private rooms
  • Patient library/waiting room with computer access to the latest oncology information
  • Nine treatment chairs with television and laptop computer hookups
  • Oncology-designated parking spaces
  • Patient transportation services

Our mission is to offer comprehensive cancer care — treating the clinical and emotional needs of both the patient and the family. The Center for Cancer Care Oncologists and Hematologists:

Archana Bhargava, MD
Dr. Bhargava earned her medical degree from Maulana Azad Medical College, Delhi University in India. She completed her Internal Medicine residency at Roger Williams Medical Center in Providence, Rhode Island, and completed her residency in Hematology/Oncology at Long Island Jewish Medical Center in New York.  She is board certified in Internal Medicine and Hematology/Oncology. Dr. Bhargava is the Medical Director of Frisbie's Center for Cancer Care

Loyd West, MD
Dr. West earned his medical degree from Dartmouth Medical School in Hanover, New Hampshire. He completed post graduate degree training in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Naval Medical Center in San Diego, California, and at MD Anderson Cancer Center for Oncologic Gynecology. Dr. West is board certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

Yoko Fukuda, MD
Dr. Fukuda earned her medical degree from Keio University of Medicine in Tokyo, Japan. She completed her residency at Keio University Hospital and at Beth Israel Medical Center in Internal Medicine, and a fellowship in Hematology/Oncology at Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, DC. She is board certified in Internal Medicine, Hematology and Oncology.

Paula Caron, APRN
Paula Caron, APRN earned her Master of Science degree in Community Health Nursing from Boston College in Newtown, Massachusetts. Ms. Caron is certified as an Advanced Oncology Certified Nurse Practitioner, a Advanced Certified Hospice and Palliative Care Nurse, and as a Certified Tobacco Treatment Specialist. She is certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner by the  American Nurse Credentialing Board.
