Stop the Bleed Training
Frisbie Memorial Hospital’s Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and Rochester Vascular Surgeons are teaming up to introduce Stop the Bleed, a nationwide awareness campaign that aims to “encourage bystanders to become trained, equipped, and empowered to help in a bleeding emergency,” whether from a vehicle accident, mass shooting, or home or work-related injury.
Frisbie EMS will be offering to the community Stop the Bleed training, free of charge. Participants will learn how to recognize life-threatening bleeding and how to compress a bleeding vessel by applying pressure or dressing to the bleeding site, or by applying tourniquet(s) to stop the bleeding. A Frisbie paramedic and trained Stop the Bleed instructor will demonstrate how any bystander can apply bleeding control and emergency trauma dressings and tourniquet to control bleeding while waiting for professional first responders to arrive on scene.
