Education for Diabetic Patients

The goal of diabetes education is to help patients better understand the nature of their illness and learn how to make any necessary changes in health habits as soon as possible. The diabetes education program is recognized by the American Diabetes Association and follows the national standards for Diabetes Self-Management Education.

Diabetes informational groups and educational classes focus on:

  • Medication types and how to take
  • How to lose weight by eating enough
  • What to eat, how much, and when
  • When to exercise and what to do
  • Blood glucose monitoring
  • Continuous glucose monitoring devices
  • Insulin pump therapy
  • How to prevent foot wounds
  • Diabetes during pregnancy
  • Successfully managing diabetes and living a healthy lifestyle
