August 23, 2017

Frisbie Memorial Hospital is pleased to welcome Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker, Catherine McManus. Catherine sees patients established at both Family Care of Somersworth and Rochester Hill Family Practice locations. Catherine holds a Master’s of Social Work from Salem State College. She has worked with children, families and adults in a variety of settings over the past 20 years.

How do I get to see a Clinical Social Worker?

Patients can ask to see a Social Worker or a provider may suggest it.

What can a Clinical Social Worker can help with:

Mental health and behavioral concerns related to:

  • Emotional wellbeing
  • Parenting and co-parenting
  • Learning challenges
  • Substance use and addiction
  • Life stage issues
  • Chronic illness
  • Family and marital conflict
  • Assistance connecting with community resources

Psychotherapy is the most common service provide by our Social Workers. Engaging in therapy can be difficult at first. Catherine believes that we are experts on ourselves and our circumstances. Change can lead to relief from emotional suffering, but sometimes change is hard, even hard to imaging, but having a therapist to partner with can add objectivity and ideas worth trying as well as motivation and hope for the future.

Some days, Catherine brings a certified dog named Gertrude to the office. “Gertie” is a lively Boston Terrier who joins the team and provides unconditional positive attention.
