Hip conditions we treat
We can surgically intervene to treat acute and chronic hip conditions, including:
- Arthritis
- Avascular necrosis
- Fractures
Advanced hip replacement surgery
Whenever possible, we use minimally invasive techniques to perform total hip replacement surgeries.
Our hip replacement treatment
During hip replacement surgery, we typically replace the ball of the thigh bone and socket of the pelvis bone with an artificial joint (prosthesis) that’s made of metal, ceramic or plastic.
We can also perform direct anterior hip replacement surgery. This is a minimally invasive alternative to traditional hip replacement, where our surgeons access the joint through the front of the hip. With fewer incisions, this method may offer less scarring and a quicker recovery.
Candidates for hip replacement surgery
You may schedule an appointment with one of our orthopedic care experts if you:
- Experience hip stiffness after getting out of bed or sitting for a long time
- Have discomfort, swelling or tenderness in the hip joint
- Have tried medicines and physical therapy without success
- Hear or feel "crunching" in the hip joint
